Certification Overview

In order to become certified, you must read and study the Wolman Certified Contractor Training Manual on-line. You will learn about specific exterior wood species, the damaging effects of weather exposure, the basic steps and WOLMAN products required to restore and protect exterior wood surfaces, as well as recommended marketing and pricing methods to follow to successfully develop your own exterior wood care business. You can view this manual online.
Once you've completely reviewed the training manual, you should move on to complete the Wolman Certification Test, which also is available online or in hard-copy format. The test follows the manual in chapter order, and is designed to exam your knowledge of wood weathering, restoring and protecting decks and siding, WOLMAN product features, application and clean-up, equipment usage, and business marketing. To earn certification, a minimum test score of 85% must be achieved. The exam is in multiple-choice, "open book" format, so there is no reason those interested in achieving a high score cannot do so.

If you complete the test online, your score will automatically be calculated once you "grade" it. You can then go back to correct answers on any questions you missed, in order to increase your score. If you prefer to take the test manually, your answer sheet is all that we require back by fax (1-800-678-1617). It will be graded within a week of receipt, and you will be notified by mail of your results.

Once you pass, you will receive a starter packet and diploma that officially designates you as a Wolman Certified Contractor.
